Dear Parents,
The DELF is an internationally recognized certification of French proficiency. It certifies the student for life at the level they wrote the exam, and enriches the student’s educational or professional portfolio. DELF certifications at certain levels are required for acceptance into certain high school and postsecondary institutions.
The benefit of DELF
The benefits of completing the DELF proficiency exam are: Official proof of a student’s French language skills. Recognized in 160 countries. Recognized by universities, employers and the Canadian Federal Government. The certification is valid for life. Helps students set future language learning goals.
The exam measures a student’s ability to use French in everyday life. Students’ French skills are measured across four areas: Listening; Speaking; Reading; Writing.

Dear Grade 8 Extended French Parents,
Please see the important information attached below regarding the DELF exam that your child is eligible to write in June of 2024. I will be hosting a virtual DELF Q & A session on Tuesday, February 13th at 7:30 p.m.. It will be a wonderful opportunity for us to answer any questions you may have about your child taking the DELF exam, if you choose for them to participate.

Dear Parents:
- “La semaine de la Francophonie” the week of the Francophonie will take place during the week of March 4th to March 8th, 2024.
The French teachers in collaboration with all the staff at OJCS are in the process of organizing a special week starting on Monday March 4th to celebrate the French language with your child(ren).
- During this week, all students will celebrate in classrooms during French lessons by participating in various French activities.
- During library time students will participate in various French activities related to the theme and « les dix mots de la Francophonie » (the 10 words of the year in French language).
- On Wednesday March 5th students will participate in games in rotation at the end of the day in French language.
You are cordially invited to attend your child’s performance on Thursday March 7th, 2024 at 6.30 pm.
